About Me

Pierre Omidyar founded online auction firm eBay in 1995 and served on its board until 2020. In 2002 eBay bought online payments firm PayPal and spun it off in 2014. From 2005 to 2020, Omidyar gifted at least 9.6 million eBay shares per year. Through the Omidyar Network, launched in 2004, he and his spouse Pam have put over $1.5 billion into impact investments and nonprofits. A resident of Hawaii, Omidyar owns stakes in resort properties in California and Mexico and is developing real estate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He's also the founder of First Look Media, the parent company of online news site The Intercept and the entertainment company Topic Studios.
