About Me

Susan Carol Holland is the chair of the board of Milan-based Amplifon, the world's largest retailer of hearing aids. Amplifon was founded in 1950 by her father, British-born Algernon Charles Holland, to provide hearing care for people injured in World War II. Her father served in the British Special Operations Executive during the war, receiving the honor of Member of the Order of the British Empire. Amplifon developed digital hearing aids in the 1990s and entered the North American market with the acquisition of Miracle-Ear in 1999. Algernon died in 2001, the same year Amplifon went public on the Italian Stock Exchange; Susan took over as chair in 2011.
