About Me

Adebayo Ogunlesi cofounded Global Infrastructure Partners, a New-York based private equity firm that was acquired by BlackRock in 2024. Prior to the deal, worth $12.5 billion, GIP had more than $100 billion in assets under management with interests in the energy, transport, digital infrastructure, and water and waste management sectors. He still remains chairman and CEO of GIP, and is now a senior managing director at BlackRock. Prior to starting GIP, Ogunlesi spent 23 years in the investment banking unit of Credit Suisse and earlier was an attorney at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, a law firm in New York. Born in Nigeria, he attended Kings College Lagos, a prominent boarding school in the country. His father, Theophilus Oladipo Ogunlesi, was reportedly the first professor of medicine in Nigeria.
