Andy Konwinski is a cofounder of AI search startup Perplexity and Databricks, a platform that helps build and analyze datasets. Perplexity hit a $20 billion valuation in 2025 and Databricks was valued at $134 billion in 2026. Originally from rural Ohio, Konwinski cofounded Databricks in 2013 and later cofounded Perplexity in August 2022 with Aravind Srinivas, Denis Yarats and Johnny Ho. He no longer holds active positions at Databricks or Perplexity. In 2024, he launched Laude Ventures to back early stage tech startups. It started with a $150 million fund. In 2025, he started the nonprofit Laude Institute with $100 million of his own money to back moonshot research ideas on fundamental human problems.
