About Me

Cristina Junqueira was 30 years old in 2013 when she cofounded Brazil-based Nubank, now the world's most valuable digital bank. She ran Brazilian bank Itaú's largest credit card division before leaving the job to start Nubank alongside cofounders David Vélez and Edward Wible. A trained engineer, she also holds an MBA from Northwestern University. She briefly became a billionaire when Nubank debuted--as Nu Holdings--on the New York Stock Exchange in December 2021 at a valuation exceeding $50 billion. She owns nearly 3% of Nubank.
