About Me

Real estate magnate Edward Debartolo Jr. heads DeBartolo Holdings. The Florida-based property development and investment firm owns a diverse real estate portfolio, including apartments, development sites and hotels in several states. An NFL Hall of Fame executive, DeBartolo Jr. owned the San Francisco 49ers during the 80's and 90's when the team won five Super Bowls. In 1998, he pleaded guilty to not reporting a bribe from a Louisiana government official. President Trump pardoned him in 2020. His sister, Denise DeBartolo York, took controlling ownership of the 49ers in 2001; her family runs the team today. DeBartolo joined his dad's real estate company in his 20s. A quarter of a century later he directed its merger with Simon Property Group.
