Thomas Dundon founded subprime auto lender Drive Financial in 1997, sold it to Santander and exited with $700 million in 2015. He acquired a majority stake in the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes in 2018. In 2019 Dundon invested $70 million into the now-defunct Alliance of American Football. Dundon in 2025 put together a consortium of investors to acquire the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers for $4.2 billion. Dundon's pickleball empire includes control over the United Pickleball Association, the PPA Tour and gear seller Pickleball Central.
