Wang Wenyin is the founder of copper and cable conglomerate Amer. Headquartered in Shenzhen, Amer has 30,000 employees globally with offices in Asia, the U.S. and Europe. Wang's roots to Shenzhen trace back to 1993, when he moved to the city with the equivalent of about just fifty dollars. Wang continues to face court-imposed high-spending restrictions, after his Amer shares were frozen by a Qingdao court due to contractual disputes. He stepped down as chairman of Shenzhen Amer, a main subsidiary of the group, in October 2023.
